“Think Outside the Box” — Oh Pull-ease!
Are you as sick of hearing “think outside the box” as I am? The phrase is as silly and meaningless as a mantra. Who the heck thinks “inside a box”? The same tired thinkers urging the rest of us to mentate outside one. Let’s box their ears. Maybe something will shake loose upstairs.
Throw away all “box” thinking — inside and out.
Stop being cautious.
Ignore the crowd.
Especially ignore the counsel of friends and family.
Forget the downside and all worst case scenarios.
Reject the consensus.
Consider the immortal wisdom of Peter Fonda’s character in Easy Rider, and “do your own thing in your own time.”
Follow the road you’ve longed to, but feared.
Finally, don’t ever tell me to “drive carefully.” Life’s a race. Move over, pal, I’m passing.
